Worth of All

Genesis Chap. 1:26,27

Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness . . .”

. . . So God created humankind in God’s image; in the image of God, God created them; male and female God created them.

All are of worth!  It is intrinsic in our creation story - made in the image of God!  This bestows full and equal dignity and worth to all people.  Period.  Our task is to join God’s ever-present influence to help ensure that this is a known reality within every person.  It is a movement toward wholeness, and that includes a sense of oneself, and in our relationships.

We see this sense of intrinsic worth in such documents as the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  And we further affirm that ‘Nature’ does not simply have instrumental benefit for humans, but it, too, has intrinsic value.
